Karbachtoberfest is more than a seasonal ale at Karbach Brewing Co. B-52 Fest
Oct. 1

German lagers, including B-52 Brewing Co.’s own 2016 Festbier, will be on tap the first weekend of October. Traditional German food from The Sauer Kraut will be available along with Thai-Mexican fusion dishes from Pho-jita. Games and a costume contest will ensue with prizes awarded to winners. King’s Biergarten Oktoberfest
Oct. 7-9

Local government representatives perform the ceremonial keg tapping Friday at 7 p.m., and the celebration will continue all weekend. German music, beer and food will be available to patrons. VIP packages and a chance to win an all-inclusive trip for two to Oktoberfest in Munich, Germany, in 2017 will also be offered. Oct. 7-9. $10-$90. King’s Biergarten and Restaurant, 1329 E. Oktoberfest at the Texas Renaissance Festival

The Texas Renaissance Festival kicks off its 2016 season with an Oktoberfest-themed weekend, complete with beer, food and dancing. The festival grounds will model Bavaria and the Black Forest, and traditional German music will fill the air. Guests are encouraged to come dressed in Oktoberfest attire and bring an appetite for the costume contest and the bratwurst-eating contest. 9 a.m.-6 p.m. $26.45 (adults, purchased online), $13.45 (children, purchased online), $30 (adults at the gate), $15 (children at the gate). Island Oktoberfest
Oct. 21-22

The 35th annual Island Oktoberfest will feature traditional German music, food and beer. Hand-crafted German gift items will be for sale in The Lyceum, a Victorian-style chapel in Galveston. Additionally, a live auction raffle, cake wheel and activities for the whole family will be in store. The event begins at 5 p.m. Friday. $20 (raffle tickets).
